Georgian Bay Turkey Run

Well, as another year of great boating in Georgian Bay comes to an end we close the season off in fine form with yet another great Turkey Run.

This annual event has continued to evolve over the past 12 years changing organizational hands often. Andrea & I (Summer Wine) are the latest couple to take over the rains of this fun weekend.

This year we had 21 boats and over 60 people.
I want to thank everyone that helped us organize another successful weekend by stringing lights, setting-up the building, cooking dinner and cleaning up afterwards. Special thanks go out to Tim (MisConduct), Art (Knotty Times), Chris (Cost A Lotta) and Derek (Wide Open Throttle) for doing a big chunk of the work.

Well, enough of the blah, blah, blah niceties let's talk about the partying because we did do some serious partying this weekend .

The weekend started out with Alan (TheOne) & I taking our boats to Fryingpan Bay to secure the docks. This is always the wild card in a successful Turkey Run as it is very possible to find other boaters that have beat us there. That causes a mad scamble at the 11th hour to find another suitable location.

We were lucky this time. Tim joined us later that day allowing us to take up the whole dock.

.......This is when the party started.

Alan, Dan, Tim & I decided to play Texas Hold 'em on TheOne (sorry for the mess Karen and for the incident with the place mat) and since no one brought poker chips (Andrea remember that for next year) we decided to play with coloured toothpicks. We started at about 8:30pm and about 2 coolers full of beer later it was 3:30am and we were all well on our way to being lite up like the Northern lights.

One thing that's worth an extra mention is the song "Spirit in the Sky". Everytime Art got another beer he requested (in some cases begged) me to play the song. And of course everytime he heard it he just had to sing along.

So to pay homage to this great song and to a great guy we have to make "Spirit in the Sky" the official song of the Turkey Run.

Here's some pics from Friday & Saturday.
